Mattijs van Ommeren

Lead Research & Development at Zerocopter

Mattijs van Ommeren is a curious guy who loves solving puzzles. During his youth he loved taking electronics apart and reassembling the parts Frankenstein style, with mixed results. Later he discovered personal computers and was fascinated by using those in interesting ways, such as modifying games with a debugger (cheating and bypassing protections) and programming weird stuff in Turbo Pascal. After finally landing a serious corporate job designing networks and systems for large enterprise customers, computer security (mostly the hacking part) kept luring, and he decided to turn it into a business by becoming a self-employed pentester. A few years later, he was employed by several consulting companies to help build a security practice in the realms of IT as well as OT (Operational Technologie) breaking and protecting Industrial Control Systems. Currently Mattijs is leading Research & Development at Zerocopter, and helps turn their digital platform into a security market place powered by hackers.
