Michel Rijkers is SOC Coordinator at the Dutch Ministry of Finance, where he coordinates security monitoring, detection and incident response. He works at the intersection of security operations, technical incident response and organisational decision-making, with a strong focus on strengthening cyber resilience across complex government environments.
Michel was closely involved in the response to the 2026 cyber incident at the Ministry of Finance, from the initial detection and investigation through crisis response, containment and recovery. In his work, he focuses on bringing together technical teams, service providers and organisational stakeholders to improve detection, response and recovery when security controls are challenged.
