Appointed as the National Coordinator for Counterterrorism and Security on 1 February 2019, Pieter-Jaap Aalbersberg has a distinguished law enforcement background including roles as Chief Constable in Amsterdam and leadership through the MH17 repatriation mission. He has represented the Netherlands on EU committees focused on organized crime and served on Interpol’s Executive Committee. Aalbersberg, who holds an Executive Master’s in Police Management, has extensive experience in criminal intelligence and leading significant investigations at multiple levels.
