Koen Gijsbers

Former CIO of the Dutch Ministry of Defense, General Manager of NATO’s IT and cyber agency (NCI Agency), currently leading IT & cyber executive and advisor for governments and companies. Koen has a background in defense and national security and is interested in helping public-private stakeholder communities to reduce their digital risks. His military career built his leadership experience, through all levels up to commanding the 11 Air Assault Brigade. He was deployed to operational missions, including leading the humanitarian relief effort in South Kosovo in 1999. In the IT and cyber domain, Koen led NATO’s transformation of communications towards the concept of Net Centric Operations and drove change in the NLD Ministry of Defense as CIO. As General Manager of NCI Agency he helped optimize NATO’s IT and Cyber capability and services
