Kees Verhoeven was born in Utrecht and grew up in Zeeland. He studied Economic Geography in Utrecht and part of it in Madison, Wisconsin USA. After a stay as a teacher in Antigua Guatemala, he started in 2002 as a policy advisor at the Chamber of Commerce of Amsterdam. In 2004 he went to MKB Nederland and in 2006 he became director of Ondernemersorganisatie MKB Amsterdam. In 2010 he was elected as a member of the House of Representatives for D66 and was given the portfolios EZ, Housing and Transport. In the years that followed he became spokesperson for Media, Counterterrorism, Police and European Affairs, Cybersecurity and Privacy. He was also campaign leader five times and chairman of a research committee into the Housing Market. Since 2015 he has increasingly focused on digitalization and the impact of digital technologies on our society. He wrote, among other things, 2 Techvisies, an initiative note on data and competition plus an initiative law on the use of software vulnerabilities by the government. Kees Verhoeven
