The NCTV serves the Netherlands’ national security.  We protect interests, identify threats and strengthen resilience.

Since 2006, Esther van Beurden has worked continuously in the Dutch security domain. Until 2018, she held various positions at the National Coordinator for Counterterrorism and Security (NCTV). As a project leader, strategic advisor, and initiator, she advised government and political leaders on cybersecurity policy. She was involved in setting up the National Cybersecurity Center, and she was responsible for establishing the public-private Cyber ​​Security Council. 

Later, as head of department, she led the Strategy and Staff department and the Countering State Threats program. After a three-year period at the General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD), Esther returned to the NCTV in September 2024 as Director of Cybersecurity, State Threat Resilience, and National Security Analysis.
