It discusses cyber’s influence as the “5th domain,” leveraged by Russian aligned actors during the invasion of Ukraine. It delves into the nature of cyber operations, in alignment with kinetic actions. Additionally, highlighting their use in disrupting command and control, targeting critical infrastructure and weapon systems, while supporting battlefield intelligence gathering. The presentation features case studies from Mandiant, focusing on multiple threat actors, their activities in Ukraine, including the increase of the targeting of mobile devices. It concludes with key insights on the unpredictability of cyber warfare, the creativity with available resources and the importance of proactive security measures.
