AI in general, and LLMs in particular, have spread like wildfire across every industry. Cybersecurity is of course no exception to this. There are many facets of the new AI-age that need to be discussed, regulated, and developed. One under-discussed facet is the effect LLMs have had on students. While every education conference has discussions on the harmful effects of LLMs on student learning, this effect will start to spread to industry. This talk is a firsthand account of a lecturer who has taught cybersecurity courses from pre-LLM to today, and seen the differences LLMs have made. We will explore the effect this has on the talent pipeline. Also, some real-world anecdotes from hiring managers who are seeing this exact effect in their inability to hire junior employees. Finally, some suggestions for how to best navigate the new talent pipeline that has yet to be built.
