When we use the words ‘security’ and ‘culture’ in a single sentence we often talk about the security awareness and resulting behaviours in an organisation. But there is another culture that can significantly affect our cybersecurity, and that is the cultural dimensions of the nationalities represented in our security teams and organisation population. In this session we will use Erin Meyer’s 8 dimensions from The Culture Map to understand how cultural diversity might affect aspects such as the effectiveness of cybersecurity controls in different countries, decision-making structures in incident response, and end-user engagement & (in-)secure behaviours.
