Jos De Groot is economist and is director Telecommarkets in the Dutch ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy since december 2014. Previous jobs include several positions in the ministry of Finance (privatisations) and the ministry of Economic Affairs (Energy directorate).

His directorate is aiming for high quality connectivity in the Netherlands that can serve a wide variety of demand and is available anytime and everywhere at competitive rates. Safeguarding privacy and cyber security are important and crucial pre conditions for a further development of the Dutch digital economy, that will offer new economic and socital opportunities for everybody.

These goals can only be reached in close cooperation with “classical” marketplayers, telecomcompanies, internetoperators, media companies, but also new players like internet exchanges, data centers and digital platforms
