Alex Band is the Director of Product Development.
Founded in 1999, NLnet Labs is a small, independent public benefit organisation contributing to the robustness, security and reliability of the Internet and the privacy of its users. The Internet runs on NLnet Labs: its open-source software and work on open standards for the Domain Name System and (safe) inter-domain routing are used globally.
Alex has over twenty years experience in the Internet industry, starting his career at Hewlett Packard in 1996. Going through various roles, ranging from technical support to engineering, he gained a very broad view on Internet technology, as well as governance.
Before joining NLnet Labs in 2017, Alex was Technical Trainer and later Product Manager at the RIPE NCC, the Regional Internet Registry for Europe, the Middle East and parts of Central Asia. In these roles Alex gained a love for open-source software, as well as the experience to understand the dynamics of the community to turn conceptual ideas into successful products.
