Joseph joined Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) in 2011 as Corporate Information Security Officer in order to gain complete oversight on all aspects of information security. In this position Joseph defined the NS security roadmap, set-up an implementation program for realizing the roadmap and influenced major outsourcing projects to include security. He has also set-up the Information Risk Management group at NS. After this group was formed he took up the position of Information Security for a Business Unit and specialised in topics like privacy and risk management. Currently, Joseph is involved in the implementation of the NIS directive within NS and the establishment of an European Rail ISAC.

Jospeh passion for information security has had a considerable influence on important decisions during my academic and professional career. As a student he followed courses in this field and selected a related topic for his Masters. After having worked in other IT areas, in 2001 he joined the security practice of Siemens to obtain consulting skills and technical expertise in information security. During this time Joseph also completed a postgraduate study to learn more on the managerial aspect s of information security.

Throughout his career Jospeh has presented at various conferences at a national and international level. For example, he presented at ISF Annual Congress in both 2016 and 2017, as well as at the Rail Cybersecurity Summit 2019.
