A significant amount of abuse and illegal content online is occurring in servers and platforms. We are talking about unintended accessible servers, open file shares and configuration errors, outdated and vulnerable software. These provide opportunities for cyber criminals or malicious hackers, and are being used for various types of abuse and cybercrime such as child abuse material, copyrighted content, botnets, phishing sites and more. The project “Abuse 2.0” offers generic approach towards fighting abuse and cybercrime in networks of hosting and other “upstream” service providers.
